Hello friends and art lovers! I hope that you are having a wonderful summer, between the rain that is. I thought I would take this opportunity to share with you all the latest and greatest that has been happening in my art career.

I have been picked up by three new art galleries! ‘Art Beat Gallery’ in St. Albert and ‘Swirl Fine Art’ at ArtCentral in downtown Calgary have my plein air oils, and ‘Evanescence Gallery’, a beautiful new gallery in High River will be carrying my mixed media and acrylic contemporary work. I have attached an invitation to a very novel show that Evanescence is holding at the end of July. Even if you cannot make it to the small painting show, I hope you will drop into the gallery this summer to see the wonderful paintings there.

I am in the process of updating my website (I have already uploaded my new workshop and class schedules and registration is open for those) and continue to post several times a week on my art blog. I have also joined two internet galleries” Fresh Paint Daily Painters” and “Daily Paintworks”, which allow for the auction and purchase of my paintings.

In June I had a very successful show at the Centre D’arts Visuels gallery in Edmonton, and a not so successful Artwalk on Stephen Avenue Mall for Canadian Artists for the Poor. You win some, and you lose some!

The best news of all is that I won the Grand Prize in the Canadian Brushstrokes Magazine’s Landscape Competition for my painting “Summer Respite”, pictured here. This is also the painting on the cover of my new  book “En Plein Air –One Artists’ View” available through Blurb publishing –click here to view a preview of the book and to purchase. The book has been extremely well received my artists and non-artists alike.

I just finished 3 days of filming for my new instructional DVD “The Plein Air Experience in Oils and Watercolour”. I hope that the DVD will be released this November in time for Christmas!

Lastly, I am the only Canadian accepted into Plein Air Rockies, an annual plein air painting competition to be held this August in Estes Park, Colorado. This is my first PA competition, and I am really excited about it. We have up to two weeks to paint on location in the beautiful Rocky Mountain National Park and surrounding areas, and then we are allowed to enter 3 paintings into the competition. There are many public painting activities planned as well as a nocturne event, which will be a new thing for me.

My studio flooded in the June storms and right now everything is piled in boxes soon to be put into a huge storage container on my driveway for who knows how long, until the carpets and walls can be replaced. It is a good thing that my summer studio is outside, or I would really be in a funk!

I am glad that I am able to keep you up to date with the latest happenings in my art life. If for any reason you would like to be removed from my mailing list, please don’t hesitate to let me know and I will be happy to remove you. Thank you again for your continued support and have a restful summer!
