Fall Updates

As promised, here are some fall updates.  I didn't have all the show information when I sent the last newsletter, plus there are some cool new opportunities that have come my way that I want to tell you about.

I have been getting out a lot to do some plein air and catch the beautiful fall colours. Every day that it is windy, I get anxious in case all the leaves blow away!

NEW TEACHING GIGS

Besides the classes that I shared in my LAST NEWSLETTER, there are some new classes I am offering.

THIS Sunday, October 2nd I am giving a free ENCAUSTIC DEMONSTRATION at the Leighton Centre from 1-4pm. This is all part of Alberta Art Days which takes place all weekend. There will be an opportunity for spectators to try a little painting, just enough to get you interested! The demonstrations take place indoors, so don't let a little cool weather scare you away.

For those that had to miss the last LEVEL ONE class at Swinton's, and for those who become interested at the demonstration, I will be teaching an INTRODUCTION TO ENCAUSTIC PAINTING class at the Leighton Art Centre on November 12 & 13.

Just to remind you, I will be teaching INTRODUCTION TO ENCAUSTIC PAINTING LEVEL 2 on November 26 & 27 at Swinton's Art Supply, and I am doing an ENCAUSTIC DEMONSTRATION also at Swinton's on November 4 from 6-8pm.

SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY

I am thilled to be a guest artist for the Calgary Sketch Club's Annual Studio Tour. My studio will be open for visitors on Saturday October 15th from 12-5pm. Come and see where the magic happens!

UPCOMING SHOWS

I am thrilled to be participating once again in the fall CALYX DISTINCTIVE ARTS show. This year I will be ONLY on Saturday October 22 , from 10-4pm with more than 30 of my latest creations. If you haven't attended this show before, it is a MUST SEE, with fine art and fine crafts and different artists each day, it is an extravaganza of beauty!

am very happy to announce that I got all five of my submitted paintings juried into the upcoming Mad About Art Show with the Federation of Canadian Artists, Calgary Chapter. Not only that, but they all received superior merit ratings. This is a very special show for the FCA as we are celebrating our 35 year anniversary and we are holding the show at the lovely Earl Grey Golf course for the entire weekend.

s usual, I will be having small unframed work on display at the Leighton Art Center's CHRISTMAS IN THE COUNTRY show and sale. This is a great opportunity to purchase older art gems at a fraction of gallery prices. The sale runs from November 5-13 from 10-4 daily, except Mondays.

As well, my work can always be seen at the following galleries:

Just Imajan Gallery, Cochrane

Evanescence Gallery, High River

Palliser Art & Framing, Calgary

Leighton Art Centre, outside Calgary

Centre D'Arts Visuels, Edmonton

As well, my work is now featured at the Selkirk Grill at Heritage Park!

As the weather changes from fall to winter, I hope that you keep warm, be happy, and enjoy all that the season has to offer rather than getting overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle of the pre-Christmas season!

Blessings
Sharon
