Summer has sprung instead of spring!!
Can you believe that spring only lasted one week this year? I don't know what is going on, but I will take it. Time in the studio has been replaced with time in the garden for the next little while, but I hope to be able to get out soon for some painting while the vibrant spring colours are here.
I promised you in my last newsletter that there was a new body of work about to be unveiled, and NOW is the time! The painting above is one of the new paintings that shows the direction that I will be heading. I am taking all that I have learned by painting on the landscape 'en plein air' over the last 7 years, combined it with the colour and design skills I have been building over my career, and have come up with a style that I think is original and totally ME (at least for now!). This style swings from very abstract to semi-abstract, loose and brushy to geometric, but it all hinges on my local landscape and features bold shapes and colour.
I have several shows coming up, and I hope that you will be able to come to one, or all, as they will each have different work in them; so you KNOW I have been very busy!!
I am not teaching until the fall, so if you are looking for classes, please be patient until then.

I was thrilled to have not one, but TWO of my paintings selected for the upcoming Leighton Art Centre's Juried Members show. The show will remain on view until June 3rd. If you haven't been to the Leighton Centre, you definitely owe yourself a trip to this exquisite site and hub of artistic energy, just outside of Calgary!
Two other events taking place at the Leighton Centre are the Sunset Soirée and Annual Clothesline Festival and Sale. The Clothesline sale has unframed works that are specially priced to provide maximum beauty at a minimum price. Get there early for the best selection. For dedicated art collectors, the Sunset Soirée was designed to give you first pick at the wonderful collection that is the clothesline sale.
I am thrilled to be invited to exhibit my work again this summer at the lovely Art on 9th gallery in Inglewood. Here is a special invitation for you, my faithful friends, to the opening reception TOMORROW night, May 23rd. I hope you can come and join me for a glass of wine and a private preview of the collection. The show continues until July 15, so if you cannot make it to the opening, then I hope you will be able to catch it during the early summer.
